No apparent input

Post by giadawlk » Tue Nov 10, 2020 3:16 pm

Hi, using Ubuntu Studio 20.04 supplied Giada 0.15.4. Hoping to use Jack. Tried a few things, but no love so far. Cleared out the .giada directory a few times to start over. So, starting from scratch:

1) Select Jack from config. Set Debug to file. Save and restart.
2) I see the beats going at 120 in the sequencer bar. I set Output device to a2j and Input device to a2j. Save and restart.
3) I no longer see the bouncing sequencer. I do see Giada show up in jack as both input and output. I connect Hydrogen (for example) output to the input of Giada in Jack Audio Connection Kit.
4) I don't see any input on the meters in Giada.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!
K

Hello!

You're using a fairly outdated version of Giada and I can't think of bugs that could relate to this problems. I'd suggest first of all you get equipped with the most recent AppImage from Giada website and see if it helps. :)

Well, I made some more progress with 0.16.1, so we can close this out. Fixed seems like such a strong word. Resolved sounds better. I can't tell you how many times a developer told me the "optimized" some code, and it turned out to be crap, and they "optimized" it again! :) Just bustin' balls, I definitely appreciate the work and the product!

Well, keep in mind Giada as a whole is a project under development (hence versions starting from "0") and things are expected to be unstable sometimes, however the team here is taking a close look at every bug report and issue. :)
And help is really appreciated around here, so if you feel like doing some coding for a good cause, just fork it :)
